Ken Underwood
Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
In 1994, Mr. Underwood launched 1-888 Traffic School, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL. By 1997, it was the largest in the country with 150 locations and over 100,000 students a year. In 1999, he sold the business to a group led by Ford Motor Company and J.P. Morgan Chase. Following the end of a non-compete agreement in 2003, Ken founded The National Safety Commission Inc., an online driver education company that was recently named to the Inc. 500 as America's second fastest-growing education company. Since the creation of SIH Corp, Mr. Underwood has managed the growth of TNSC as well as the addition of the organizations' newest business units, including StereoFame.
Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Ken served as a Special Project Mission Commander in the Navy, where he was a decorated pilot. He is a retired pilot from American Airlines, where he earned his International Captain Rating for both 757s and 767s. Ken sits on the advisory committee for Seamark Ranch and graduated cum laude from Jacksonville University with a BS degree in Marketing, Management, and Economics.
Dennis Okon
Chief Information Officer
Mr. Okon joined SIH Corp in 2004 as a developer and has since been appointed Chief Information Officer. In this role, Dennis has overseen and managed the technical development and implementation of business initiatives for The National Safety Commission. He is the organization's technical lead on product development and implementation strategies. Dennis came to SIH Corp after several years of freelance consulting, where he led development teams on multimillion dollar enterprise applications for various communications companies. He holds an M. Eng in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Mathematics, also from MIT.
Davis Johnson, Jr.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Johnson was appointed Executive Vice President in 2007. In this role, he is responsible for operational execution of special projects. Davis is the founder (1991) and President of Concepts Now, Inc., an award-winning promotional marketing agency exclusively servicing the pharmaceutical industry. Included among his awards is the PPAI Golden Achievement Award for "Most Creative Promotional Product" and ASI's "Best Client Promotion of the Year" award. Formerly, Davis worked for Black & Decker and First Union National Bank. Davis graduated from Florida State University i with a BS degree in Business Communications, with minors in Advertising, Psychology and Marketing.
Lisa Eakin
Vice President, Call Center Operations
Mrs. Eakin has responsibility for managing the company's virtual call center operation, which includes more than 50 agents. The virtual operation is a stellar example of best practices in training, employee development, sales/service management, evaluation tools and reducing employee turnover. Lisa's creation and deployment of integrated cross-selling and employee incentive programs has produced consistent and dramatic results without increasing average customer acquisition expenses. Lisa earned, with honors, both her BS degree (Corporate Finance) and MBA from the University of North Florida. She is a member of the Trendsetters Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and is active in the organization's community service programs.
