Ken Underwood
Founder, President & CEO
In 1994, Mr. Underwood launched 1-888 Traffic School, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL. By 1997, it was the largest in the country with 150 locations and over 100,000 students a year. In 1999, he sold the business to a group led by Ford Motor Company and J.P. Morgan Chase. Following the end of a non-compete agreement in 2002, Ken founded National Safety Commission Inc. (NSC), an online driver education company that was recently named to the Inc. 5000 as America's 2nd fastest growing education company. Since the creation of SIH Corp, Mr. Underwood has managed the growth of NSC as well as the addition of the organizations' newest business units, including Roy's Cluband Toga Insurance.
Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Ken served as a Special Project Mission Commander in the Navy where he was a decorated pilot. He is a retired pilot from American Airlines where he earned his International Captain Rating for both 757s & 767s. Ken sits on the advisory committee for Seamark Ranch and graduated cum laude from Jacksonville University in 1981 with a BS degree in Marketing, Management, and Economics.
Ken resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with his wife, Ginger, and their five children.
Dennis Okon
Chief Information Officer
Mr. Okon joined SIH Corp in 2004 as a developer and has since been appointed Chief Information Officer. In this role, Dennis has overseen and managed the technical development and implementation of business initiatives across all business units. He is the organizations' technical lead on SIH Corp product development and implementation strategies.
Dennis came to SIH Corp after several years of freelance consulting where he led development teams on multi-million dollar enterprise applications for various communications companies. He holds a M.Eng in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Mathematics, also from MIT.
Dennis resides in Cape Cod, MA with his wife and daughter.
Dennis Oistacher
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Oistacher joined SIH Corp in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Dennis is responsible for all financial matters of the organization. For the past three years, Dennis was President of Tempo Products, LLC, a home products import and manufacturing company. From 1996 to 2002, he was Chief Financial Officer of Tree of Life, Inc., a natural and specialty foods marketing and distribution company with annual revenues of $1.6 billion.
Prior to 1996, Dennis worked in various senior financial management positions for a number of organizations, both public and private. He has a BS degree from Brooklyn College, a MBA in Accounting from St. Johns University, and is a CPA licensed in the state of Florida.
Dennis resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with his wife, Ellen and their two children.
Robert E. Mons
Executive Vice President
Mr. Mons joined SIH Corp as Executive Vice President in 2007. He is responsible for SIH strategic business development as well as operational leadership of ARC Interactive and Roy's Auto Club.
Prior to SIH, Bob was Senior Vice President of ION Media Networks. At ION, Bob was responsible for the creation of the highly acclaimed "ION Life" prime time health lifestyle series on ION's Flagship network reaching 95 million households, as well as the successful launch of ION Life, the digital cable network reaching over 60 million households. Before ION, Bob was Director of Network Sales for NBC where he managed the growth of The Patient Channel from launch in 2001 to the largest consumer health television network in the U.S. Formally, Bob served as Managing Partner of Osprey Capital LLC where he was responsible for Osprey's private equity and M&A business units. Bob graduated with a BS degree in Marketing and Finance from Jacksonville University in 1983. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, with his wife Prudence, and their four children.
Davis Johnson, Jr.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Johnson was appointed Executive Vice President in 2007. In this role, he is primarily responsible for core business development & operational execution with NSC, Roy's and ARCi.
Since 1991, Davis was the founder and President of Concepts Now, Inc., an award winning pharmaceutically focused promotional marketing agency. Included among his awards are the PPAI Golden Achievement Award for "Most Creative Promotional Product" and ASI's "Best Client Promotion of the Year" award. Formerly, Davis worked for Black & Decker and in 1989, he began his career with Wachovia Corporation.
Davis graduated from Florida State University in 1989 with a BS degree in Business Communications, including minors in Advertising, Psychology and Marketing. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with his wife, Amy, and their three children.
Chris Heidrick
President, Toga Insurance Agency, Inc.
Mr. Heidrick recently joined SIH Corp in 2007 to lead the company's insurance subsidiary, Toga Insurance Agency. Most recently, Chris led the marketing department for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company's personal insurance segment. Prior to Fireman's, Chris led product development and personal lines property & casualty programs for Marsh & McLennan's Affinity Marketing business, and he built two nationally licensed online personal insurance agencies. In the early years of his career, Chris held a variety of management roles at Nationwide and Prudential Insurance Companies.
Chris holds a BS degree in Economics from Penn State University as well as the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations.
Chris resides on Sanibel Island, FL with his wife, Lisa, and their two children.
Lisa Eakin
Vice President, Call Center Operations
As Vice President, Call Center Operations, Mrs. Eakin has responsibility for managing the company's virtual call center operation that includes more than 50 representatives. The "center" includes both supervisors and representatives who telecommute from five states. The virtual operation is a stellar example of best practices in training, employee development, sales/service management, evaluation tools and reducing employee turnover. Lisa's creation and deployment of integrated cross-selling and employee incentive programs has produced consistent and dramatic results without increasing average customer acquisition expenses.
Lisa is the organization's most tenured employee. She began her career with CEO Ken Underwood in 1996, at 1-888-Traffic School.
Lisa earned, with honors, both her BS degree (Corporate Finance) and MBA from the University of North Florida. She is a member of the Trendsetters Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and is active in the organization's community service programs.
Lisa resides in Jacksonville, FL with her husband, Sean, and their son.
Kelly Barrera
Vice President, Scheduling Operations
Mrs. Barrera began with National Safety Commission in 2003 as Vice President of scheduling operations. She is responsible for planning and overseeing classroom, instructor and scheduling operations. Kelly has 18 years experience in management, scheduling, and corporate training for American Airlines, Midway Airlines, Dillard's, and ACT Training. Kelly earned her BS degree from Jacksonville University. Additionally, she serves as a board member for the St. Johns County, St. Augustine Airport Authority. Kelly resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with her husband and their two children.
Chris Knight
Executive Director of Traffic Safety
Colonel Christopher "Chris" Knight, the former Director of the Florida Highway Patrol, was recently appointed Executive Director of Traffic Safety for our National Safety Commission business unit. In this role, Chris is responsible for leading the organization's strategic growth and educational outreach initiatives.
After graduating from Florida State University, Chris joined the FHP in 1981 and served for 26 years. He began his distinguished law enforcement career as a trooper responsible for patrolling the roadways of Southwest Florida, and he quickly rose through the ranks serving assignments in Miami, Bradenton, Palatka and Tallahassee. He has experience serving as a troop commander, Chief of the FHP Training Academy and six years as FHP Director. Chris is also a graduate of the FBI academy, and is a member of various professional groups including the Florida Sheriffs Association, the Florida Police Chief's Association, the State Law Enforcement Chiefs Association and the International Association of Police Chiefs.
Chris currently resides in Tallahassee, FL with his son.
Kristin Stancato
Director, Online Marketing & Web Design
Kristin Stancato serves as Director of Online Marketing and Web Design. She has ten years of advanced website design, eCommerce and search engine optimization experience with established firms from entertainment clients in California to Fortune 500 companies in New York. The foundation for her work is built on effective website usability and the use of ethical SEO strategies that offer endless opportunities for growth.
Prior to joining SIH Corp in 2006, Kristin served as a Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Development Specialist for iVillage.com, the #1 online destination for women with 16 million unique visitors (comScore MediaMetrix).
A native of Greensboro, NC, Kristin now lives in Jersey City, NJ with her husband, Mark.
Katie Tomczyk
Program Manager
As SIHC's Program Manager within the NSC business unit of the organization, Katie is responsible for carrying out statewide sales and marketing initiatives for several of our primary educational platforms. In addition to working with county judges to implement our new CourtOrderedCourses.com curriculum, she'll also manage the Traffic Ticket Reference Guide© and MoveOverAmerica.com objectives that NSC custom created for Florida's law enforcement agencies and clerk of courts.
Most recently, Katie was a sales management agent for Randstad USA. Katie graduated with a BS in Economics from the University of Georgia where she was a Presidential Scholar and a Division I Scholar Athlete for the Cross Country & Track team. She now resides in Jacksonville, FL.
